Uses and Benefits of Vetivert Essential Oil
Vetivert Essential Oil has been referred to as the oil of tranquillity for its rich restorative qualities. Vetivert is most often used as a fixative for perfume blends. It holds onto other fragrances blended with it, and releases them slowly.
Vetivert grows into a tall grass with long and thin leaves. Vetivert forms a complex, underground root system. It grows in India, Ceylon, and Burma, cultivated for its essential oil in southern India, Indonesia, Malaya, Philippines, Japan, West Africa, Brazil, and Jamaica.
The essential oil is obtained from the dried, chopped roots and rootlets of the Vetiveria zizanoides plant. Steam distillation of the roots yields its amber colour oil with an earthy and smoky aroma.
